The Irish bay onbaord La Curieuse
After the rendezvous on February 1st, La Curieuse headed for Irish Bay in the northeast of the island, at the head of the Whalers' Gul
During this transit, killer whales were around off the famous Ratmanof pinguins sites, as were whales in the Whaler's Gulf (on the left, a family of killer whales on the hunt, surrounded by white-chinned petrels and black-browed albatrosses. On the right, a whale sounding).
Once on site, the team on board La Curieuse began preparing the instrumented moorings.
The Irish Bay fjord had never been mapped before. Mooring lengths are therefore adjusted in real time before deployment. A fine collaboration between Michel (left), commander of La Curieuse, Grigor from CNRS (center) and Pierre from IPEV (right). Mooring operating procedures were also discussed, with drawings to back them up

Une fois les mouillages préparés la phase de déploiement peut commencer.
