Maintenance of the weather station
Meteorological data are essential to the MARGO project. The glacier's mass balance depends on how much snow accumulates and how much ice melts. This requires meteorological data collected as close as possible to the glacier. The Mortadelle site is therefore equipped with a weather station that records data every 30 minutes. The MARGOLAND team took advantage of its stay on site to unload the accumulated data and replace the anemometer that had been destroyed during a previous storm
